Getting to the Core

Being happily successful - having what you want and wanting what you have - frames much of our thinking at the start of a new year.

Getting and sustaining this “happy success” requires change and adaptation. However, change is often uncomfortable, especially if we wait until a crisis to implement what we’ve been avoiding. The core of who we are and the parts of ourselves that demand expression to be happily successful will come to the forefront one way or another.

We can either rot to the core: suffer challenges and disappointments pursuing misaligned options until we are forced to confront our needs;

or

We can cut to the core: make the hard but decisive choices to eliminate what doesn’t serve us to create room for re-discovering what will.

Both routes are potentially painful but the latter is more empowering.

Situational context will determine which route you’ll take, but it’s something I’m compelled to highlight because I want all of us to feel empowered as we lead ourselves and others as parents and/or decision-makers in our respective organisations.

Much is at stake! Leading change proactively gives us the confidence to navigate uncertainty from a healthy perspective, and the creativity to convert challenges into opportunities.

I want that for you, and I encourage you to not compromise. Being happily successful is worth it, and it is attainable!

My challenge to you: what changes will you make to get to the core of true success in 2026?
